Sustainability

Fairwind Creative was formed with the sole purpose of providing businesses with sustainable options for all their graphic design, web development, and digital marketing needs. Our creators practice green methods inside and outside the office.

We’re on a mission to provide eco-conscious and ethical options for everyday graphic design and web development services for businesses large and small.

As a green business, Fairwind Creative is committed to normalizing green practices and eradicating its mysteries and myths. We can show you how to run your business online using green technology and achieve success while supporting the environment. We support like-minded organizations by contributing a percentage of all our earnings to support innovative organizations who are making great strides in sustainability and conservation.

Saving Energy
Saving Energy

Fairwind offers 100% green energy web hosting. We buy only certified energy efficient electronics, use LED lightbulbs, heat/light/power only spaces currently in use, recycle used batteries, and have plans to install solar panels to power our office.

Working Paperless
Working Paperless

We rarely print anything, with the exception of test proofs for our clients’ design projects before print orders are placed. We use recycled paper, print on both sides, and recycle when we’re done. All written correspondence is conducted digitally.

Reducing Waste
Reducing Waste

A shocking 58% of food is wasted each year in Canada, even when 1 in 9 globally (8.8%) are undernourished. Fairwind buys carefully, composts like crazy, conserves water and electricity, and maintains our own vegetable garden.

Carbon Offsetting
Carbon Offsetting

To help combat climate change, we calculate the amount of energy our creators consume each year (measured in tonnes of CO2-equivalents) then donate that amount to organizations who support wilderness, ecology, and wildlife.

Eating Less Meat
Eating Less Meat

About 80% of Amazon deforestation is from animal agriculture. Vegan diets have a 60% lighter carbon footprint. Although humans evolved to eat meat, we can do it smartly. We all buy local and organic.

Driving Smart
Driving Smart

With some of our team still waiting to shift over to electric vehicles, the others rarely drive. When we do, our commutes are short and we tend to opt for cycling or public transportation. Most client meetings are conducted virtually, or by phone.

Flying Less
Flying Less

Air travel constitutes 12% of transportation emissions. We structured our business in a way that prevents unnecessary air travel. Video conferencing, no out-of-province business travel. And when we do have to fly, we choose the shortest routes, even if they cost more and take longer.

Buying Organic
Buying Organic

The soaps, cleaners, detergents used by our creators are certified organic. Our bath tissue is made from bamboo instead of trees. Our garbage bags and cleaning cloths are compostable. Our coffee is organic, as well as fair trade.
