Saving Energy
Fairwind offers 100% green energy web hosting. We buy only certified energy efficient electronics, use LED lightbulbs, heat/light/power only spaces currently in use, recycle used batteries, and have plans to install solar panels to power our office.
Working Paperless
We rarely print anything, with the exception of test proofs for our clients’ design projects before print orders are placed. We use recycled paper, print on both sides, and recycle when we’re done. All written correspondence is conducted digitally.
Reducing Waste
Cutting food waste starts with simple habits—planning meals, sticking to a shopping list, and storing produce and leftovers properly. A shocking 58% of food is wasted each year in Canada. Fairwind buys carefully, composts, and conserves water and electricity.
Carbon Offsetting
To help combat climate change, we calculate the amount of energy our creators consume each year (measured in tonnes of CO2-equivalents) then donate that amount to organizations who support wilderness, ecology, and wildlife.
Traveling Less
We structured our business in a way that prevents unnecessary air and road travel. Most client meetings are conducted virtually, or by phone. We all work from home, and many of us regularly opt for cycling or public transportation.
Buying Organic
The soaps, cleaners, detergents used by our creators are certified organic. Our everyday fibre consumables are made from bamboo instead of trees. Our garbage bags and cleaning cloths are compostable. Our coffee is organic, as well as fair trade.
Be-leaf Change is Possible
To promote healthy forest management, Fairwind has built relationships with award winning, carbon-neutral print shops who embrace the use of sustainable products. Their paper suppliers use alternative renewable energy sources, reduce chemical energy and water usage, and source post-consumer materials and FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council) certified forest fibre, perfect for digital printing, offset printing, and specialty printing. Fairwind Creative is on a mission to help the earth. We take our responsibility to our planet seriously and do everything in our power to counteract the strain most businesses put on our environment. Climate change used to feel like a far-off concern, but now we’re witnessing its devastating effects intensify every decade. Humans continue selfishly harming the planet with little consideration for other species.
