Julie Melano - Owner and Creative Director

Julie Melano

Owner & Creative Director

Fairwind’s owner and creative director, Julie Melano, started her design career in the mid 90’s, while working toward her Bachelor’s degree in Art from Southern Oregon University focused on graphic design and photography. She relocated to Portland, then after a few years spent broadening her skills in a sequence of intense customer service roles in the hospitality industry, began dabbling in web design. That experience opened some interesting avenues in her career.

Around 2006, Julie began taking on freelance clients, conducting business under the business name Melano Graphics. However, for most of the next 15 years she committed herself to working as an employee for various notable graphic design and website development firms throughout the Pacific Northwest, from California, to Oregon, to British Columbia.

In 2018, after almost a decade in Canada, she and her husband became Canadian citizens. Julie is a dual Canadian/US citizen, and she maintains clients in both countries. Over the years, Julie has had the pleasure of helping approximately 700 businesses with their design needs. These projects have ranged from logo design to website content formatting to full-spectrum brand development to social media to extensive e-commerce and database-driven websites, mobile apps, and software applications.

Julie started Fairwind Creative with the purpose of devoting all her energy and creativity as a designer and marketing strategist to help promote a healthier planet through the use of green technology and ethical practices. Fairwind’s creators and industry partners work continuously to find ways of transforming and “greenifying” antiquated marketing techniques.

Selim Koksal - Full-Stack Web Developer

Full-Stack Web Developer

Once a humble digital marketing maverick, Selim kicked off his career at an agency that provides consultancy in SEO, Google Ads, Social Ads, and Google Analytics! He was already a UI-UX wizard – making websites so user-friendly even aliens could navigate them. He then took a detour into the realms of web design, front-end development, WordPress development, and even unleashed his inner Picasso for graphic design.

After a brief freelancing stint (where he learned that PJs are totally acceptable work attire), he found his true calling as a Full Stack Web Developer, now proudly soaring with the Fairwind Creative crew. His secret mission? To be a superman of Full-Stack Dev, armed with code and a cape (well, metaphorical one).

Selim is a challenge enthusiast, whether it involves conquering waves on the ocean or taming the wild jungles of the internet. When he’s not crafting digital wonders, you’ll find him riding the waves or surfing the web – because who says you can’t love both oceans?
